Quick Terminal

Window → Quick Terminal opens an independent terminal. Choose a global shortcut under Settings → General → Quick Terminal, such as Control + backtick or Control + Option + Space, to toggle from other apps. Aster must stay running; no global shortcut is claimed by default.

Choose top/bottom/left/right/center, size, margin, display, animation duration, hide-on-focus-loss, and following Spaces. Margin is screen-edge distance, default 12 pt; zero sits flush. The anchored edge is flush, with margin on the other two sides. Content has 20 pt inner padding.

Resize by dragging edges; width/height survive hide/show and restart. Changing position, size percentage, or margin in settings restores the percentage-based layout. The window cannot be moved by dragging; Position determines it.

First open uses the recent workspace directory; afterward it keeps its own Shell/CWD. Hiding or Command+W does not stop tasks; Escape still reaches the terminal. exit/Control+D hides it, with a fresh terminal on next open. An abnormal early Shell exit (signal or immediate nonzero configuration failure) retains the view; use Window → Restart Quick Terminal. Quitting Aster ends it; this temporary session does not restore next launch. For an occupied shortcut, choose another or use the Window menu.
